Diamonds Finish Third in Silver Division 10U Plantation Fall Classic
Championship weekend! The Diamonds started off with a strong win against their hosts, the Plantation Pressure, in the first game of the tournament at 9:30am. The second game against the Miami Wildcats ended in a loss, but not by a large margin. The last game of day was against the Ft. Lauderdale Lightning - Jorge. This is a team the Diamonds have struggled with in the past, prompting the Lightning to remark that it was their lucky day to face us. The Diamonds made it their UNLUCKY day by a strong win! Never underestimate the Diamonds! What a game!
On Sunday, the Diamonds played one of their best games ever against the Miami Wildcats. The girls made quick work of the Wildcats with three up, three down for two innings for a zip-zip score. The Miami Wildcats certainly thought they were walking into a sure win, but the Diamonds made them work for it. The final score was 5-1 with Miami moving on to face the Sharks. The 10U Diamonds finished third in the Plantation Fall Classic Silver - GO DIAMONDS!
Cold But Winning Day in Plantation for 10U Diamonds
The Diamonds arrived at Sunrise Park at 7am with a temperature of 56 degrees! Hot chocolate helped, but the wind was brutal and the 8am game ended in a loss to the FTL Lightning - Jorge. The girls spent the time before their 11 am game warming up and playing kickball, and that seemed to do the trick! They had a definitive win against the Hollywood Seminoles and then followed it up with another strong win against their hosts, the Plantation Pressure, at 12:30pm. Offense and defense continue to be strong and the girls now boast their first 2-game winning day!
The tournament runs every other Sunday through November (9/27, 10/11, 10/18, 11/8 and then 11/21-22).
On September 27, the West Boca Diamonds played the Sunrise Thunder, the Plantation Pressure and the West Pines Diamond Dusters. The team went 1-2 for the day but really showed promise in coming together as this new team. They look forward to the next challenge!

In the opener, a 6-2 victory over the Chobee Firestix, B. McCaffrey led the offense, reaching base and scoring on both of her plate appearances. Runs also came from P. Hawxhurst, A. Colandreo, C. In its thrilling 10-9 comeback win over the JPTOS Stuart Cruisers, the Diamonds appeared poised to win after a clutch two-run single to left by Doherty, driving in Perez and A. Nerf. Rosa to take back a 10-9 lead. In the bottom of the last inning, with Cruisers at second and third and only one out, the batter lined out to reliever Curtis in the circle, who threw to Hawxhurst at third, doubling-up the runner for the game’s final out.
