FINALLY! The 10U Diamonds won their first 2 games of the year in true Diamonds style at the West Boca Iron Women tourney. The girls have been improving greatly from week to week. We started the day by making presentations to our sponsors; The Drowos Group at Smith Barney, Newbridge Securities, Artists International and AIM High.

We lost our first 2 games of the weekend, and came back to play our 3rd seeding game against the Sunrise Thunder. We ended the 4th inning with a spectacular catch in right field by Rachel Lieberman, which gave the team the lift it needed to come through. Going into the bottom of the last inning, we were down by 3, and got a clutch triple from our first baseman Emily Estroff, followed by hits from Ashley Brooker and Taylor Doherty. Then we got a 2 run triple from catcher Alexa Kidwell to take the lead. At that point we got some clutch hits from Kelsea Friend and Jordyn Lyman to seal the win 9-6.

Our first elimination game on Sunday came against Caloosa Park, whom we struggled against all year. The girls never gave up, and won the game with great plays in the outfield by Kelsea Friend and Jordyn Matez. The bats were once again alive with hits from Emily Estroff, Jordan Lyman, Taylor Doherty, Ashley Brooker and Alexa Kidwell. We won the game by a score of 5-4. We can't say enough about the way our girls played, especially our pitchers Jordan Lyman and Taylor Doherty. Both girls have been pitching well and are a great 1-2 punch, with our young up and coming pitcher Emily Estroff waiting in the wings when needed.

We lost the next round to our arch rival Coral Springs Panthers. We play them again in the first round of games at 8:00 AM Saturday in Lake Lytal during the Brianna Marie Cox Memorial Tournament. Please come out and cheer the girls on as we fight for our first tournament championship.

The 10's played in the Lake Lytal Classic May 1-3 in West Palm Beach.  We finished with a record of 0-2-1.  The scores and record do not reflect the vast improvement we see from our 1st year team.  Our pitchers are coming into their own, and the girls are making great plays in the field.  We are starting to hit more and more, thanks to the help of our hitting coach, John Blalock.

Our team consists of 12 talented, young ladies that will be a force to reckon with by the end of this season led by Jordyn Lyman, Taylor Doherty and Emily Estroff on the mound.  Our catchers, Shelby Blalock, Gabby Reitz and Alexa Kidwell and the rest of the Diamonds; Jordy Matez, Rachel Lieberman, Anna Knight, Kelsea Friend, Ashley Brooker and our newest member Francesca Stellino.

The Diamonds have a great coaching staff led by head coaches Gary Kidwell and Rob Estroff.  They are supported by Assistant Coaches Mitch Matez,  Bill Doherty and hitting specialist John Blalock.

The 10U Diamonds could use your support.  Come out and cheer us on at our next tournament May 15th-17th, the West Boca Iron Women Tournament.
